AS FEATURED IN/ON
“Avalanche have been making a name for themselves as purveyors of blistering Aussie hard-rock in much the same vein as those who came before them, with clear influences being taken from the likes of AC/DC, Rose Tattoo, and The Angels… they’re one band you need to watch”.
- Rolling Stone Australia
“An explosion of rock brilliance... a release that stays true to the rock n’ roll genre, with rolling drums, heavy electric guitars and infectious melodies. It will get anyone head-banging in no time”
- Happy Mag
“If felt like I was watching a cross between Airborne and AC/DC. The energy was insane... Veronica played her blistering guitar solos from the front of the barriers and rocked out with the fans in the middle of the mosh pit. Avalanche always give 110% at their shows and it’s not something you want to miss!”
- Amelia and Liz Thompson, Twinmusix
“This is nothing but fun. That’s it. This is the band that went to school with the patches on their denim jackets, just like we did, but unlike us had the skill – and the will – to emulate their heroes. Avalanche is four people playing the music they love. And doing it superbly.”
- Andy Thorley, Maximum Volume Music
“‘Second Hand Band’ is a thrashing single that layers swirling guitars with frontman Steven Campbell’s emphatic vocals. The pub-rock single is a lot of fun and is bound to go off live.”
- Laura English, Music Feeds
“Anyone that has ever said they don’t make good Rock bands anymore needs to download their latest EP… If ever there was a new band that was a perfect fit to tour with the greats such as Airbourne, Rose Tattoo, Baby Animals, The Angels, The Screaming Jets, The Living End, well let’s face it - even AC/DC, then its Avalanche.”
- Francis Populin, Bumping Into Podcast
“Avalanche just shoulder charge you with energy and authenticity, there is nothing false about them. They are raw, gritty, and extremely talented musicians... Check out this EP its literally classic! And go to a show, you could not regret it.”
- Jade Guida, Rawing in the Pit Media
"They're an absolute cracking band... they blew us away, they're one of the best live bands kicking around and they've just got better and better, bright future ahead for these guys"
- Tim White, The Hard Rock Show
“Very catchy strong guitar riff’s that would make Angus Young jealous… With hard rock roots and their own flavour, Avalanche is to today’s generation what AC/DC was to the 70’s. They haven’t been around for long but have made a big splash in the industry and with fans”
- Metal Roos
EXTENDED BAND BIO
Avalanche are a 4 piece hard rock/pub rock band from Western Sydney, playing short, fast & loud, no-bullshit Aussie rock 'n roll for a new generation.
Imbued with their dad’s record collection and their love of the dirty pub rock of Australia’s past, the band first met and started rehearsing at a steel factory every day after work in 2018. They’ve since made a name for themselves in the sticky floors of the national underground scene with their tenacious work ethic, non-stop touring schedule, and a signature sound & live show, which routinely leaves the audience covered in blood, sweat and beers.
In April 2022, Avalanche released their new single ‘Bottle Of Sin’ to widespread acclaim, hitting over 50k streams on Spotify within a few weeks. The track was played repeatedly on several commercial radio stations in Australia; Triple M Hard N Heavy, Rebel FM, PBS and on TV on The Hard Rock Show on Channel C31 in AUS, as well as Kerrang! Radio, Planet Rock and Total Rock Radio in the UK. It's become a worldwide community radio favourite, with the band enjoying repeated airplay on over 1000 community radio shows worldwide. The track was recorded at A Sharp Recording Studio with Grammy nominated and ARIA Award winning producer Steve James, who’s credits include Sex Pistols, Airbourne, The Screaming Jets, The Angels, Cold Chisel, Hawkwind, The Superjesus, and even ‘Always Look On The Bright Side of Life’ from Monty Python’s Life Of Brian!
Their previous single and music video ‘Second Hand Band’, the title track of their sophomore EP, was premiered in Rolling Stone Magazine, and on 1700; Melbourne’s only live youth-produced music TV show, along with features, interviews & reviews in a multitude of local & international publications including Tone Deaf, Fireworks Magazine, Music Feeds, The Music, Monster Children, Heavy Mag, Happy Mag, The Music, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Innerwest Independent, Something You Said, VENTS Magazine & more.
In 2023, they’re hitting the ground running with a brand new single and Australia wide tour for ‘Sweet Baby Brown Eyes’, a cover of the hit song by 1970s cult Aussie pub rock legends Avalanche, the band’s namesake of which their very own Steven Campbell’s dad, Adrian Campbell fronted. It’s a blast from the past with Avalanche’s unique modern twist and their second track working with Steve James.
In the last few years, while in a pandemic no less, the band headlined Melbourne rock giant’s Kingswood’s ‘Juveniles’ album launch, played over a dozen sold-out shows at The Factory Theatre, Paddo RSL, Crowbar, Cherry Bar, Tomcat, UOW Unibar, and they've played several festivals including Aussie Made, Home Brewed Festival, and Thrashville 2022, Australia's premiere heavy music festival, where they played right between headliners Totally Unicorn, FANGZ & The Neptune Power Federation. They've became mainstays at Sydney’s most loved (and sadly, now closed) heavy music venue; Frankie’s Pizza By The Slice, and even played the infamous never to be forgotten birthday bash on the venue’s 8th birthday.
In October 2022, they set their sites overseas, headlining their first international rock festival, ROCKTOBER FEST in Nouméa, New Caledonia, and headlined several other packed out shows across the island nation! They maintain a hectic touring schedule, bringing their raucous live show to packed audiences around Australia with rave reviews, and more oversears shows in the works.
The band has worked with HAUS Party [The Amity Affliction, Peking Duk, Guy Sebastion, North Lane] on their first music video, and 4 videos later, they've amassed over 260k views on YouTube & Facebook. Their 2 EP's has tens of thousands of streams on streaming services & they've sold over 2000 CD's worldwide.
No less than 3 tracks off ‘Second Hand Band’ ('Second Hand Band', ‘Permanent Ink’ & ‘Spit In My Mouth’) have debuted on the Top 10 in the independent Australian Charts. With ‘Get Back (To Fuckwit City)’ also debuting in the Top 3 on the Triple J Unearthed Rock Charts, and #6 on the overall Triple J charts, as well as landing the band the front cover of Heavy Mag’s Aus Artists Digi-Mag's 5th Issue. The band have also hosted the Metal Express Radio Guest DJ hour, who’s previous hosts included Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Y&T, Exodus and more.
Avalanche is made up of the husband-and-wife duo of lead vocalist & bassist Steven Campbell; a red haired, otherworldly, sheer force of nature unlike any other who always puts his blood and his guts into every show; and wife Veronica ‘V’ Campbell; a tall, dark and aggressively powerful lead guitarist; a mass of shaggy black hair in a bra and ripped jeans, with a Gibson SG constantly by her side. She is bound by neither space nor convention, often playing her blistering guitar solos in the crowd, on the bar, on table tops, and sometimes even in the toilets.
Then, we have the incredibly skilled and tightest drummer you'll ever hear, and youngest member of the band; Ryan Roma aka ‘ADHD’ on drums, and rhythm machine and absolute life of the party (seriously, be prepared) Arthur Divis aka 'the new guy' (not really) on rhythm guitar.
Avalanche are waving the flag for Aussie Rock, giving no fucks and winning over new fans every time they play.
